Galería 314 is a Chilean initiative aimed at breaking away from the traditional art model in Chile and democratizing its access by expanding the art circuit to a broader audience. Located in Santiago’s iconic Barrio Franklin – an area of growing cultural and commercial excitement – the organization set itself the challenge of creating an inclusive cultural experience, diverging from the elitist premises of conventional art galleries.
The project was spearheaded by art dealer Amparo Mardones, with decades of experience in the traditional art circuit, who brought together the REAL team to conceptualize this new space (initially nameless) with the ambition of redefining what an art gallery can be.
The art sector in Chile presented a challenging environment: art remained confined to very small circles, linked to economic and intellectual elites, and cultural offerings were perceived as distant from the general public. Galería 314 needed a brand strategy that addressed this reality, decentralizing art and making it relevant to a new community of visitors and creators.

Our work process revealed a significant insight in Chile: the art gallery is perceived as an elitist space that separates the artist from the public. People think that "cultured" art doesn't belong to them and can only be enjoyed within a prescribed circuit. However, when speaking with the founders —including Amparo Mardones, a renowned art dealer with decades of experience— a different truth emerged: the community yearns for spaces where art is experienced as a shared journey.
We explored how the founders talked about their project. While they focused on logistics and the artwork, they hinted that their true desire was to create a place that connected artists and neighbors. We noticed that they valued the community and the chance to showcase works without the rigidity of a traditional gallery. Their unconscious leaned towards a brand that's more social and less transactional. The gap between the perception of galleries —as closed-off businesses— and Galería 314's strength —its openness and neighborhood spirit— became the opportunity.

First, a brand promise was defined celebrating perpetual expansion: breaking all boundaries associated with art. Transforming the gallery into a canvas that only offers opportunities. This is where the name Gallery 314 was born, a reference to the number π (3.14) and its infinite decimal places, symbolizing infinite possibilities for creation and enjoyment. This decision founded a narrative inviting you to "visit a place without limits", aligning with the mission of taking art beyond elitist barriers.
The visual identity amplified the concept. The logo integrates the shape of π and alludes to the infinity symbol, graphically sealing the idea of art representing possibilities. The visual system adopted a brutalist aesthetic inspired by the raw honesty of Franklin: solid fonts, direct compositions, and textures that exalt the neighborhood's raw material.
